Alumni - 2000
Jessica Bozeman -- Vocal Performance and Art History, Lawrence University. Currently studying in Vienna, Austria
"I love Augustine College because it is a place for growing. I grew intellectually, in my relationship with other people, and in my
relationship with God."
Joshua Burnett -- Teaching 9th Grade English at an inner city high school in St. Louis, Missouri
"Augustine College is a place where the historical community of intellectuals is studied by a delightful community of oddballs."
Joel Geleynse -- Figure Skating (pairs and men's singles) and coaching. Studied at Tyndale College. Currently pursuing his musical
interests.
"Both the transcendent and immanent value and joy of my study at Augustine College is almost ineffable."
August 2003 Update: "I had the opportunity to experience Tyndale College, Redeemer University, work in Christian
radio and television, lead a youth group, skate to Christian music for the lunchtime crowd in the food-court of Cambridge mall where they have
an ice pad, travel in my VW van around U.S. and Canada doing Christian music concerts, and record my first album.... My
aspirations/sense of calling clearly lies in evangelism through the arts, and especially in music that is artistically excellent and
communicates God's Truth in a vulnerable, non-patronizing, honest way that is both relevant to listeners, yet is neither the product
of a strategy or agenda but something Spirit-driven. It's a tall order, and I'm terrified to actually TRY for fear of not measuring
up."
Tim Hanna -- Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto
"To be a part of Augustine College is not merely to go to school -- it is to be part of a living, loving, vibrant Christian community
of students, staff, faculty and friends of the College."
Meredith Humphrey -- Philosophy, Carleton University
"Augustine offers the chance to embark upon a quest for intellectual and spiritual truth in the context of both a present-day and a
historical Christian community."
Geoffrey Johnson -- Computer Studies, Carleton University
"I loved Augustine College because of the teachers and the students, both past and present."
Lydia (Lanigan) Nieminen -- Working ( Dare Foods).
August 2003 Update: Ethan James was born on Sunday, August 17th at approximately 11:40 pm, weighing, I think, around 7 lbs. Lydia's
labour was fantastic and mother, baby, and father, John, are doing well and excitedly adjusting to their new life together. Ethan is such a
beautiful little baby and a joy to be around (he sleeps a lot!). He also has good timing. He was due on the Friday of the Great Blackout, but
decided to wait until the power situation was a little more stable before making is grand debut. Smart kid.
Michelle Leigh -- Working / Academic Studies in Ottawa, 2002-2003 residence advisor at Augustine.
"Augustine was such an amazing experience because it is not about useless facts or man's empty philosophies, but learning to love God
with all of your mind and being part of a very close Christian community."
Kealy Mann -- Arts, Carleton University and University of Ottawa
"At Augustine College we are taught many things, but I think none are as important as the passion for knowledge and faith, which
shines through in the passion that the professors and staff show in their teachings, and for their students."
March 2005 Update: Studying medicine at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, Toronto.
Brooke Pederson -- Art Education, Trinity Western University
"I can't imagine not being aware of the depth of history, or the understanding that knowledge of this world can and should be fully
integrated with the Christian faith."
Natalie Papazian -- Working
"Augustine is a beginning in rekindling lost brain power after thirteen years in the public school system."
Sonja Spaetzel -- Graduating with a degree in Communications, Trinity Western University
"Augustine College was one of the most worthwhile experiences of my life because it helped me develop critical thinking skills ...
skills which are necessary for analyzing and evaluating ideas in order to further expose God's truth to the world."
Lucy Staal -- Working (Nostalgia's Attic)
Tosh Sinclair -- Biology, University of Ottawa. Recently went to Africa.
