Life in OttawaOttawa is the capital of Canada and a great place to live. Its population is approximately 1,000,000. Augustine College is located near the center of the city in the Sandy Hill neighbourhood. It is one of the embassy districts and very close to the University of Ottawa. There are many interesting places within walking or biking distance, like the Byward Market, Elgin street, Bank street and Parliament Hill. Don't forget to check out the parliament cats:
Walking and cycling are common modes of transportation in Ottawa. One very popular place for cycling, hiking and cross-country skiing is the Gatineau Hills, which are located just across the Ottawa River in Quebec. There is also a well-maintained system of bike routes and walking paths within Ottawa as well. In winter the Rideau Canal freezes and becomes the world's longest skating rink, which is approximately 8kms long. For fine arts lovers, there is the National Gallery, and a large number of smaller art galleries and studios. There are libraries, archives, historic monuments, and museums.
